What is BTEI?

The Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) provides part-time programmes for young people and adults who wish to return to education. BTEI delivery is flexible and gives participants the opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities.

Who is BTEI for?

Priority in BTEI is given to those that are most educationally disadvantaged. Dún Laoghaire VEC has developed programmes for a range of specific groups in the Dún Laoghaire area including:

Early school leavers
Disadvantaged women
Parents of young children
Young mothers
Traveller women
People with disabilities

What does a BTEI Programme offer?

BTEI Programmes provide the opportunity to attain FETAC certification (Further Education and Training Awards Council ). FETAC certificates are nationally recognised and levels equate to the Junior/Leaving Certificate.
A range of subjects are offered through the BTEI programmes. Subjects include: Communications, Computers, Personal Effectiveness and Maths. Depending on the particular BTEI Programme undertaken other subjects may also be available.
Programmes are delivered in small friendly groups with experienced tutors. Education guidance, information and support is offered to individual participants and to groups.
